Certified animal health technician dentistry and surgery focus
Two blocks a week. At the heart of the job.
Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are looking for the AHT who will make them their own: induction, monitoring through to full recovery, scaling, dental radiographs. The rest of the week, general medicine and your own appointments.

What is in a block
A typical block: one to two dental cases, plus one to two routine surgeries (sterilizations, mass removals).
To be straight about scale: this is a general practice with a serious dental caseload, not a referral dentistry service. If you are expecting five dentals a day, you should know that now rather than in month two.
02 · What you will do
The equipment you will actually have in your hands.
- Gas anaesthesia with intubation
- A technician dedicated to monitoring, from induction to full recovery: ECG, oxygen, blood pressure, capnography, temperature.
- Surgical block
- Spays and neuters, mass removals and abdominal surgeries: preparation, assistance and monitoring.
- Ultrasonic scaling
- Supragingival and subgingival, plus polishing.
- Digital radiography, full-body and dental
- Two in-house systems; an image in under 5 seconds.
- Therapeutic laser
- Applied to surgical sites to reduce inflammation and support healing.
- IV fluid therapy by catheter
- Systematic: blood pressure maintained and immediate emergency access.
- In-house IDEXX lab
- Pre-anaesthetic panels and results in under 15 minutes: haematology, chemistry, urinalysis.
03 · What we offer
From $32/h
A wage adjusted for your experience, with an annual raise.
While your certification exam result is pending: $30/h, then $32/h automatically once you pass.
And a complete position: dentistry and surgery at the heart of the week, general medicine and your own appointments around them.
- No weekends, no overnight on-call Monday to Thursday until 5 p.m., Friday until 3 p.m.
- A complete role Surgery, lab work, your own appointments: dentistry is the heart of the position, not your only ground.
- Funded continuing education An annual budget, and your ATSAQ dues paid.

04 · Who we are looking for
What is essential, and what can be learned.
Essential
- A DEC in animal health technology, or the grandparent clause / acquired rights recognized by the OMVQ.
- AHT certification (the ATSAQ exam), or in progress.
- Strong in anaesthesia and monitoring.
- French to serve our clientele; working English is an asset.
- A real appetite for making dentistry a specialty.
It can be learned
If you are strong on anaesthesia but dentistry is still new to you, apply anyway. We will help you create opportunities to learn: our reference books, and dentistry workshops or seminars when they come up.
