Call before you go

Many clinics keep a waiting list for new clients. Ask about delays, first-visit fees and whether your species is seen: these questions are normal and teams answer them every day.

Choosing well

How to choose a clinic?

There is no "best" clinic in the absolute: there is the one that fits your pet, your neighbourhood and your budget. A few honest pointers.

On the first call, ask

  • Are you accepting new clients, and how long is the wait for a first appointment?
  • What does an annual exam and core vaccines cost?
  • What happens if my pet has an urgent problem during your opening hours?
  • Do you see my species (rabbit, bird, ferret, reptile)?
  • Do you offer payment plans or written estimates? You are entitled to ask for one before care.

Good to know

  • Proximity matters: follow-ups, last-minute visits and daytime emergencies are much easier 10 minutes away than 40.
  • Your medical file follows you: any clinic can transfer your pet's record to another one on request.
  • Cats stressed by car rides sometimes do better with a nearby clinic, or a cat-only clinic (see the "Cats only" filter).
  • Few clinics see rabbits, birds and reptiles: use the "Exotic pets" filter and always confirm by phone.
  • Independent or part of a network: that is a personal choice. We label banners factually, with no judgment either way.

An emergency right now?

This page helps you find a regular clinic. If your pet is unwell right now: during the day, call the nearest clinic; in the evening and overnight, head to a 24/7 emergency centre. When in doubt, our emergency guide helps you triage.
