Veterinary receptionist full time, a role to build

You learn the front desk. You build it as you go.

We are looking for the person who will take the front desk in hand and carry several responsibilities at once: the welcome, the phones, the schedule, the till, and the procedures still to be written. A small team, real autonomy, support when it counts.

ApplyFrom $26/h
  • Full time, 35 to 40 hours a week
  • Permanent
  • 2525 Jean-Talon East
  • Steps from Iberville metro
  • $26/h from, adjusted for experience, annual raise
  • 35-40 h a week, Monday to Friday, daytime
  • 0 weekends
  • 25/75 one quarter theory, three quarters observation

01 · The reality of the role

What this role asks of you, plainly.

  • A small team. You will not be a number; you will not be walked through every step either.
  • Training you take. It is not handed to you: one quarter theory, three quarters observation on the floor.
  • Rigorous notes, every day. Your notes become the written procedures of the front desk.
  • Support where we can give it. A fixed weekly meeting with the practice manager, and the medical team for any clinical question.
  • Busy days. There are moments when everything happens at once: the phone, the counter, a worried family.

This role is for you if

  • You have already run a front desk or a demanding customer service post.
  • You like putting things in order, and writing it down.
  • You learn by watching and by asking the right questions.
  • You decide within your scope without waiting.
  • You want a stable, full-time position.

It is not for you if

  • You are looking for step-by-step supervised training.
  • You prefer being told what to do.
  • You are looking for part-time or variable hours.

02 · Your first 90 days

Learning the front desk by building it.

25 % theory 75 % observation

  1. Days 1 to 30

    Observe, read, take notes.

You watch the front desk, read how we do things, and take notes every day.

At the counter: the practice manager, you alongside

  2. Days 31 to 60

Run the counter, with a safety net.

You take the counter with the practice manager within earshot. Your notes become procedures.

At the counter: you, the practice manager alongside

  3. Days 61 to 90

    Run the front desk.

You run the front desk, and the first version of its procedures is written.

    At the counter: you

Throughout these 90 days: thirty minutes every week with the practice manager, same day, same time.

03 · What you will do

Several responsibilities, one front desk.

Front desk and phone

Front-desk procedures
Written from your notes, then kept up to date.
Backing up the team
A hand so the day runs smoothly, without ever performing a veterinary act: any clinical question goes to the medical team.
