Veterinary Assistant
For people who already know the day-to-day of a veterinary clinic.
We are looking for two full-time veterinary assistants who have already worked in a veterinary clinic or hospital. You keep the floor ready and the instruments sterilized, restrain animals during exams and procedures, run the lab analyzers, and support the medical team on surgery days. Veterinary acts stay with the veterinarian and the AHTs: your role is to have everything ready so they go well.
A day in the role
- Cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms, cages and common areas.
- Laundry, instrument sterilization (ultrasonic, autoclave) and kit preparation.
- Restraining animals during exams, sample collection and imaging.
- Lab: running and maintaining the analyzers, preparing and shipping samples.
- Surgery days: clipping, opening packs, circulating outside the sterile field, preparing recovery cages.
- Inventory, receiving deliveries and restocking; backing up the front desk as needed.
What we're looking for
- Veterinary clinic or hospital experience, required: this is not an entry-level role.
- Full-time availability, Monday to Friday, all year round.
- Rigour for hygiene, biosecurity and sterilization.
- Comfort handling animals and working on your feet, in a busy environment.
- Work in surgery and radiology involves exposure to anaesthetic gases and X-rays, with the clinic's protective equipment.
